A young woman…
two princes in her eyes…
one held her hand for years
another just touched it
__
Magical thrills coursed through veins
where never before
was such warmth and fire
streaming giddiness
ruled her every sigh and smile
songbirds filled her mornings
with music rivaling angelic choirs
—
Yet how could this be?
She had another love
steady and true
her comfort and rock
always there
always there
but that was it
simply there
not a magnetism
pulling every emotion
into a carnival whirlwind
—
Dare she chase
where flutters led her?
Dare she chance
a dance with erratic heartbeats?
Dare she follow
mysterious whisperings of her mind?
—
If she did not dare
longing uncertainty
and unsung love songs
would surely
wither her soul
and she would never forgive herself
for not being brave
